HELSINKI, March 23 (Xinhua) -- The name of Finland's second largest telecom operator Sonera was changed to Telia on Thursday, Finnish national broadcaster Yle reported.
Telia, the dominant telephone company and mobile network operator in Sweden and Finland, finally abandoned "Sonera" 15 years after it purchased the Finnish telecom firm in 2002.
Since the beginning of 2003, the merged company has used TeliaSonera as its name. In January 2016, the conglomerate changed its name from TeliaSonera to Telia.
Tele Finland, a subsidiary company of TeliaSonera Finland, has now changed to the new name Telia as well, said Yle.
According to Telia, combining Sonera, Tele Finland and Telia into a single name will provide customers with a broader range of products and services, as well as more flexible international usage. Enditem
