CHONGQING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Italian visual artist Elena Givone hailed southwest China's metropolis of Chongqing as her source of inspiration during her ongoing solo exhibition held in the vibrant city.
Featuring more than 110 dream-themed photographic works of Givone, the exhibition, "Dreams: A Global Tapestry -- Chongqing," is being held to celebrate the 55th anniversary of China-Italy diplomatic relations. The exhibition will last until Aug. 3.
"There's always something new here -- new stories, new faces," Givone referred to her experience in Chongqing. "Every visit sparks a new idea."
Over the past years, her work has taken her to many countries, blending documentary photography with surreal, dreamlike imagery. Now, she focuses her lens on Chongqing, known as a "cyberpunk city" in China for its futuristic atmosphere set against a stunning mountainous backdrop.
Through her lens, Givone captures the daily life of residents -- street vendors, children and elderly couples in Chongqing. Photographs taken in other countries she visited were also featured in the exhibition. She expressed her wish to show that humanity's dreams are deeply connected.
As an Italian, Givone believed Italians and Chinese shared deep connections. "Italians and Chinese both value food, family, and friends," she said. "Those three 'Fs' truly connect us."
Givone compared Chongqing to a global tapestry woven with threads of beauty, warmth, and unity. "I'll be back," she said. "There's so much more to explore."
