In Alberta, Canada, the first phase of the Mackay River project became operational on December 1.
As one of China National Petroleum Corporation’s (CNPC) two solely-invested projects in Canada, the Mackay River project is operated and managed by Brion Energy, CNPC's subsidiary based in Calgary.
The project, located in north Alberta, Canada, is planned to produce 35,000bbl/d in the first phase by using SAGD technology, and is expected to reach a capacity of 150,000bbl/d eventually.
