BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tourists have been given multiple entry visas to Brunei since July 1 this year, in order to promote transit tourism to the sultanate, a senior Brunei tourism official said.
According to local media on Wednesday, Awang Wardi Bin Hj Mohammad Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Toursim) at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, revealed that Chinese currently make up the second largest number of tourists to Burnei while Malaysians are still ranked No. 1.
He told local reporters on Tuesday that since July 1 this year, Chinese tourists have been given multiple entry visas, so that they can also visit the neighboring country of Malaysia, while the number of Korean tourists is also picking up this year.
He encouraged Bruneian citizens not to go overseas this year to celebrate their year-end holiday as the plenty of activities are expected to be lined up for the month-long Brunei December Fesitival 2017 for locals and tourists to indulge in, including the first ever mass wedding event.
