ROME, Sept. 15 (Xinhua Silk Road) -- A new Chinese automotive brand has entered the Italian market, with Hongqi making its Italian debut at the 2026 Turin Auto Show recently.
Hongqi, the premium brand of Chinese automaker FAW Group, made its first public appearance in Italy with its HS3 and HS5 SUVs.
The two models will be distributed exclusively by Emc Auto, which is preparing an initial sales network of about 15 dealerships, mainly in central and northern Italy.
"The arrival of Hongqi in Italy represents a project of great strategic value for us," said Federico Daffi, president of Emc Auto, highlighting the brand's identity, technology and vehicle design.
For Hongqi, Italy is an important market in its European expansion. "We have the ambition to build a strong and lasting relationship with Italian customers," said Forrest Liu, European sales and network director of Hongqi.
Hongqi began its European expansion in 2021, starting with Norway, and is now present in several European markets. It has also established a research and development center in Munich, Germany, aiming to develop products and technologies more closely tailored to the needs of European consumers.
With the arrival of the HS3 and HS5, Hongqi is seeking to establish a presence in Italy's premium SUV market, choosing Turin and its auto show as the stage for its debut in Italy. (Contributed by Gao Jingyan)
