RABAT, March 7 (Xinhua) -- Altogether 30 volunteers from China's medical delegation in Morocco left the Moroccan capital of Rabat on Tuesday, after fulfilling their two-year mission in the Kingdom, as three new teams arrived to take over.
"For the past two years, 30 doctors from the 165th Chinese medical mission in Morocco have worked day and night in Agadir's public hospitals as well as in Chefchaouen and Taza," said Sun Shuzhong, Chinese Ambassador to Morocco, during the welcome reception held for the three new Chinese medical teams on Monday.
Sino-Moroccan collaboration in this field benefitted the population in several Moroccan cities, said Lahcen Chtib, general inspector of the Moroccan ministry of health.
"We want to continue the mission and we expressed our aspiration that China's medical teams would cover more cities in Morocco, which still suffer from a significant gap in human resources," he said.
The first Memorandum of Understanding regarding sending Chinese medical mission to Morocco was signed in 1975.
Since then, over 1,600 Chinese medical personnel have successfully fulfilled their missions in various Moroccan hospitals and cities.
Presently, around 80 Chinese volunteers work in eight hospitals in various Moroccan regions, including Agadir, Benguerire, Chefchaouen, Errachidia, Meknes, Mohammedia, Settat and Taza.
