MONROVIA, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- China donated Liberia office equipment worth about 8 million RMB (1.2 million U.S. dollars) Tuesday in the capital of Monrovia.
The donation, which included 900 desktop computers, 450 laptops, 100 monochrome laser printers and 50 monochrome copiers, was presented to the Liberian government at a brief ceremony.
Liberian Deputy Foreign Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration Dehpue Zuo said the donation came at the appropriate time as the Liberian government faces serious financial constrains in budgetary allocation, especially for the procurement of office equipment, and extended his thanks to the Chinese government and people.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Marjon V. Kamara, Zuo hailed them as "one of the largest donations to the government of Liberia when it comes to office equipment."
Zuo assured Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Zhang Yue that his ministry would work together with other governmental departments to ensure a fair distribution of the donated equipment.
He also expressed his appreciation for the Chinese government for the progress being made at the ongoing construction projects -- the ministerial complex and extension of the Capitol Building. Enditem
