BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will ramp up efforts to build Beibu Gulf Economic Zone and Xijiang River Economic Belt in the years to 2020, according to proposals on the region's 13th five-year development plan covering the 2016-2020 period.
The zone and the belt will become strategic engines supporting the region to accelerate development on the whole, the proposals say.
In the following five years, Guangxi will form quick and efficient traffic nets with ASEAN and surrounding provinces and promote construction of China-Indochina international economic corridor.
Along with deepening exchange and cooperation with countries along the "Belt and Road", the region will further extend the open platforms such as China-ASEAN Expo, China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit and Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum, and accelerate construction of Beibu Gulf Free Trade Zone, according to the proposals.
