NANJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- To satisfy the demand of different markets, we need not only to improve the conversion efficiency and reduce cost, but also to attach importance to the development, innovation and application of PV products, which have vast room for improvement, Shi Zhengrong, founder of Suntech and a forerunner of China’s PV industry, said on Saturday at the International Green Energy Development Conference in Yangzhong, Jiangsu Province.
Shi noted that along with the decrease of cost, people no longer just pursue low-cost products, but pay more attention to aesthetic power generation products.
Shi introduced on the conference a new PV product combined the characteristics of crystalline silicon and thin-film products, which was developed by his team in the past several years. The new product is ultra-light, flexible, thin, aesthetics, pre-assembled, and tailor-made, with high performance, easy installation, easy transportation and high durability.
The market demand of crystalline silicon is to grow constantly in the future. PV power generation at present is mainly used in large-scale ground power station, hydropower station and even plant roof and house roof in rural areas.
Shi pointed out that thin-film photovoltaic products are trying to seek technological breakthroughs to satisfy the market demand. Existing such products still cannot resolve the market pain points. (Contributed by Huang Xiaolan, huangxiaolan@xinhua.org)
