BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- China’s northwestern region leads the country’s expansion in photovoltaic power generation capacity in 2016, according to the Analysis Report on Market Outlook and Investment Strategies of Photovoltaic Generation Industry.
In the nation’s newly installed capacity in 2016, the northwestern region and the rest of China presented 9.74 million KW and 24.8 million KW, accounting for 28% and 72% respectively. Nine provinces in the eastern region added more than 1 million KW of capacity, according to the report.
The report shows that the global installed capacity of photovoltaic generation rose from 100.5GW in 2012 to 306.5GW in 2016, with an average annual compound growth rate of 32.15%. In 2016, China topped the world photovoltaic market with its 34.54GW of newly installed capacity.
