Yangzhong makes remarkable achievements in green energy application

Abstract : Yangzhong in east China’s Jiangsu province, one of China’s four high-proportion renewable energy demonstration cities, has made remarkable achievements in green energy development and application.

BEIJING, July. 20 (Xinhua) -- Yangzhong in east China’s Jiangsu province, one of China’s four high-proportion renewable energy demonstration cities, has made remarkable achievements in green energy development and application.

 

Green energy application in residential communities

The streets of Qinfeng Community in Sammao sub-district are lined with wind-solar hybrid lamps, while its parking lots are equipped with charging facilities for electric automobiles. Presently, the community hosts 150 houses, of which 120 have been constructed to accommodate solar power generation. As many as 102 households, accounting for 85% of the total, have set up solar power generation modules with an installed capacity of 3kW to 8kW. The residents have adopted a mode whereby they generate power for self-use while the residual electricity is connected to the grid.

Spanning over a total installation area of 900m2, as many as 320 pieces of 255W polysilicon modules have been installed on the houses’ rooftops in Xinmin Community of Sammao sub-district to actualize photovoltaic power generation of 80kW.

 

The project uses a grid-connected photovoltaic system wherein self-power generation is carried out for self-use while residual electricity is connected to the grid on the LV side. Grid connection was achieved in September 2015.

 

Its estimated annual power generation is about 89,760 kWh, which means that 27.536 tons of standard coal is saved annually while carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by 71.592 tons per year.

Yongzhi Community in Xinbao town hosts 295 houses, of which 81 houses, accounting for 28% of the total, have realized grid-connected photovoltaic power generation on the rooftops. By the end of this year, the percentage of photovoltaic power generation modules installed in this community will exceed 50% of the total houses.

 

By 2020, a clean energy demonstration community will be built, featuring Jinwuding photovoltaic power generation modules, photovoltaic energy storage, integrated new-energy street lamps, charging facilities for electric automobiles, energy storage by residents and electric power replacement.

 

Green energy application in institutions


In 2015, the authorities realized complete coverage of distributed photovoltaic power generation on the rooftops in the central administrative district. In the project’s Phase I, 745 pieces of 270W monocrystalline silicon modules have been installed on the main building, with a total installed capacity of 201kW.

 

As many as six buildings, including Phase I works of the conference center, are equipped with 2018 pieces of 255W polysilicon modules, with an installed capacity of 625kW. Moreover, integrated sheds, spanning over 2,000m2, coupled with 10 7kW AC charging piles, have been constructed to aid photovoltaic charging facilities for electric automobiles. Complete grid-connected power generation has been achieved as of the end of February 2016. It estimated annual power generation is 1,460,000 kWh.

Furthermore, Olympic Sports Center in Yangzhong city has been equipped with 9,504 pieces of 265W polysilicon modules over a total installation area of 23,000m2. The project uses a mode wherein self-power generation is carried out for self-use and residual electricity is connected to grid on the HV side.

 

Grid connection was achieved in October 2016. Its estimated annual power generation is about 2,750,000 kWh, which accounts for annual saving of 880 tons of standard coal and reduction of 2,500 tons of carbon dioxide emission.

 

Green energy application in enterprises

Dahang Group has completed 35 grid connection projects in Yangzhong, with the total capacity of up to 35MW. Grid connection of Phase I (6MW) and Phase II (4MW) of the Fishing-PV Station Integration Project in Huaitai Fish Park was completed on June 13.

Located in Xilaiqiao town, the 3MW distributed photovoltaic power generation project at Jiangsu Limin Paper Packaging Co., Ltd. and 3MW distributed photovoltaic power station project at Yangzhong Jiacheng Investment and Development Co., Ltd. feature an aggregate available rooftop area of 32,000m2.

 

Under the projects, as many as 9,720 pieces of 315W PV polysilicon modules have been installed over a total area of 30,000m2 in a 10KV grid-connected mode. For the projects, grid-connected power generation was realized on June 28.

 

The annual average power generation of this project is 3,425,683 kWh. It will generate 85,642,075 kWh of power in 25 years, which shall account for annual savings of 1.3 million tons of standard coal and annual reduction of 29.62 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

In addition to solar power, Yangzhong Wende New Energy Co., Ltd. has built up an anemometer tower to harness wind energy, while a feasibility study is underway.

 

“According to the latest test results, it is feasible to build a low-wind speed wind farm at Yangzhong. In terms of new energy, Yangzhong is not limited to photovoltaic power generation only and will roll out several other new projects,” said a representative of Yangzhong Development, Reform and Economic Informatization Committee.
