BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The International Green Energy Development Conference is scheduled to be held in Yangzhong, Jiangsu Province from September 15 to 16, 2017. The conference, themed “Green Energy Development in China and Yangzhong’s Practices“, will showcase the latest technologies and products of new energy.
The conference will also present the development achievements of China’s high-proportion new energy demonstration cities and explore the possibilities of innovative development in the area of green energy.
Dr. Shi Zhengrong, forerunner of China’s solar PV industry, Prof. Martin Green from University of New South Wales, Yang Lei, senior advisor of the International Energy Agency, Li Junfeng, former director of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, will be invited to deliver keynote speeches at the conference.
Officials from state ministries and commissions, Jiangsu Province and new energy demonstration cities, including Jinzhai of Anhui, Shigatse of Tibet and Dunhuang of Gansu, as well as some 400 experts, scholars and representatives of key enterprises from home and abroad will be invited to the conference.
New energy development is a major strategic choice of China to promote the cause of low carbon operations and environmental protection, while ensuring energy security and optimizing energy structure. New energy, represented by green energy such as wind energy and solar PV, is a strategic emerging industry. Over the years, China has been supporting green energy development and application to increase the proportion of green energy in China’s energy structure.
Yangzhong is a high-proportion new energy demonstration city approved by the National Energy Administration. Based on the solid foundation and integral chain of its new energy industry, especially the solar PV industry, Yangzhong launched an initiative to build a “green energy island” in 2015.
The initiative was focused on the planning and construction of clean energy projects, such as distributed roof-top PV power generation, wind power, new energy micro grid and biomass. Over the years, Yangzhong has been promoting clean, low-carbon, safe and high-efficiency modes of high-proportion renewable energy production and consumption, and gained valuable experience of duplicable green energy development and application.
The conference will be hosted by China Economic Information Service (CEIS) and the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, organized by the Yangzhong Municipal Government, the CEIS Xinhua Silk Road Information Department and the CEIS Jiangsu Center, and co-organized by the New Energy Committee of the China Energy Research Society.
