BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Nestled in the Mingyue Mountains in Chongqing's Liangping District, Liangping sweet tea, an intangible cultural heritage, is being revitalized with the reliable power support of the State Grid Chongqing Wanzhou Power Supply Company.
The tea is rich in dihydrochalcone, a natural flavonoid compound, giving it triple functions as "medicine, sweetener, and tea." It has obtained U.S. FDA certification and a Chinese geographical indication trademark.
However, the traditional tea production requires precise heat control at temperatures above 250°C, making stable power supply critical.
To address this challenge, the power company has carried out regular rural grid upgrades. In recent years, it has renovated 12 kilometers of 10-kilovolt lines, installed 18 transformers, and upgraded 800 meters of low-voltage lines for tea production facilities.
With the support of reliable electricity, the Liangping sweet tea industry has expanded overseas and achieved a qualitative leap.
From a mountain treasure to a pillar of the health industry, Liangping sweet tea's thousand-year-old legacy is thriving with the support of modern electricity, seamlessly weaving tradition into a sustainable future. (Edited by Yang Yifan with Xinhua Silk Road, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
