URUMQI, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Fu Hua, president of Xinhua News Agency, on Sunday met separately with leaders of several international media outlets who are attending the sixth World Media Summit in Urumqi, the capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Extending a welcome to the media leaders, Fu said that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the World Media Summit mechanism. Thanks to the efforts of media professionals worldwide, the summit has evolved into a high-level platform for global media exchange and coordination, earning broad international recognition.

Themed "Artificial Intelligence and Media Transformation," this year's summit is co-hosted by Xinhua and the regional government of Xinjiang. Participants are also invited to visit various locations across the region.

Fu expressed the hope that media from various countries will use this summit as an opportunity to discuss the media's responsibilities and missions in the context of technological transformation, while also experiencing a real Xinjiang with diversity, inclusiveness and hospitality.

The guest media leaders included Dmitrii Gornostaev, deputy editor-in-chief of Rossiya Segodnya Media Group, and Tamas Kovacs, CEO of Hungary's ATV Media Group.

Gornostaev said that Rossiya Segodnya collaborates closely with Xinhua within multilateral frameworks such as the World Media Summit and the BRICS Media Summit. He expressed willingness to continue strengthening exchange and mutual learning, and to continue deepening practical cooperation with Xinhua.

Kovacs noted that Xinhua has played a significant role in promoting global media exchange and cooperation. He said that ATV highly values the cooperation with Xinhua, and hopes to expand areas of cooperation and achieve more fruitful outcomes.

During the summit, Xinhua also signed documents with Agence France-Presse, Iran's Mehr Media Group and the Bulgarian News Agency, agreeing to deepen cooperation in such areas as news information exchange and personnel visits.
