BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- While immersing himself in the charm of carving for years, Cao Jinguo, a craft artist in eastern China's Yi'nan County, managed to win a reputation for his exquisite and unique traditional Chinese-style sculpture works.

Cao, born in a rural family in Puwang Town, started his sculpture dream-seeking tours since very early ages and after travelling to Putian City in southeast China's Fujian Province in 1995, he broke a new path to inherit the Chinese sculpture art.

Learning from multiple local carving masters in Putian, Cao expressed his love for traditional Chinese carving, usually on jade, stone and wood, through his own artistic style.

When sculpting an artwork, Cao usually devotes himself to transforming the plain and ordinary look of various natural materials to artistic beauty via masterful precision and techniques.

With each stroke to precisely embody his spatial design and shaping of a sculpture, the Chinese craft artist created many impressive Chinese-style carving works.

Despite the challenges in passing the traditional Chinese carving craft to future generations, Cao has always been a staunch practitioner on his road to invigorating the intangible cultural heritage in China.

In August 2019, Cao became an accredited "national craft artist" in the cultural and artistic talent database of the past Chinese cultural ministry.

As he often says, persistence is the only right way forward to bring the Chinese-style carving art to more people.
