BEIJING, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Yayougou Village of Linyi City in east China's Shandong Province has transformed from a remote sluggish village into a popular tourist destination for rural tourism and boosted rural revitalization in recent years.
Since 2016, the village has leveraged its natural resources and cultural advantages to create an integrated rural complex, achieving a transformation from poverty and backwardness to economic prosperity.
Villager Wang Mingming, using his family's traditional tofu-making skills, opened a tofu workshop in the scenic area with an annual income of more than 100,000 yuan and become a model of entrepreneurship.
At the same time, the scenic area also invested in the construction of resettlement buildings to improve the living conditions of the villagers, giving priority to the employment of local labor with a monthly salary of more than 2,600 yuan.
The development of cultural tourism industry in the village has not only driven the local economy but also provided social security and elderly-care materials for the villagers, ensuring basic livelihood.
The second phase of the integrated rural complex project, which started in 2018, further promoted the "one village with one industry and one product" development mode of the surrounding 14 villages, and boosted the integration of agriculture and cultural tourism industry.
Villagers of Yahuzhuang Village, which is adjacent to the scenic area, have also taken advantage of the project construction to develop agritourism and small businesses, and their lives become more prosperous.
Linyi City is taking Yayougou Village as a model to steadily promote the construction of the city's first rural revitalization area, exploring a path that combines rural tourism with economic development.
