BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Several Malaysian enterprises in the sector of cubilose, or edible bird's nests, attended the China (Guangxi) - Malaysia (Malacca) Business Matching Conference held in Nanning, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on July 6, hoping to find business opportunities, according to report on the website of China News Service.
These enterprises are targeting business opportunities brought by the China-ASEAN cubilose cross-border industrial chain formed in the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park, which was launched in 2012 in southern Guangxi's Qinzhou City.
Malaysia exported its first batch of unprocessed cubilose weighing 150 kilograms to China in 2019 after a bilateral trade agreement on the prized culinary commodity was inked in 2016. The raw materials then were processed in the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park in November 2019.
Besides a processing and trade base, the park has also established supporting facilities such as a national laboratory for cubilose and related nutritious healthy food testing. It has taken the lead in formulating four local standards in Guangxi concerning the quality control, inspection and quarantine norms, and production technical procedures of unprocessed bird's nests, as well as production management norms of processing enterprises.
To date, the cubilose sector has become an important field of international capacity cooperation for the park, which is home to 22 cubilose enterprises and has imported bird's nests worth 709 million yuan in accumulation, according to Guangxi Daily.
The China-ASEAN cubilose cross-border industrial chain established in Qinzhou has laid a solid foundation for the cooperation between Chinese and Malaysian enterprises, particularly those engaged in cubilose business. It has also become an example showing how other products from China and Malaysia can enter the markets of each other, said Lim Ban Hong, investment adviser to the Chief Minister of Malaysian state of Malacca and special envoy of Malacca government to China.
Lim, who led a team to visit the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park, added that as the park has rolled out preferential policies, Chinese and Malaysian enterprises can cooperate in areas of cubilose production, processing and testing in the park, work together to craft more branded products, and tap into other markets across the world.
Lim expects more characteristic products from Malaysia to enter the vast Chinese market, saying this will have a positive implication on the Malaysian economy, especially on the agricultural sector.
