LONDON, June 5 (Xinhua) -- During a new era featuring the current global uncertainties, Chinese and British enterprises should adapt to the new era with new partnership, according to industrial experts from China and the United Kingdom (UK) at a key bilateral exchange event.
Themed "Illuminating New Opportunities," the third UK-China Business Leaders Summit was held in London on May 28. The summit gathered over 400 entrepreneurs, policymakers, and scholars to explore diverse areas of Sino-British collaboration.
Chinese Ambassador to the UK Zheng Zeguang delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the summit. He said that China's manufacturing industry, represented by electric vehicles, batteries and photovoltaic modules, has entered a new phase of development. He urged joint efforts from Chinese and British business communities to strengthen economic and trade cooperation amid China's high-standard opening-up.
Chen Xu, vice president of the China Overseas Friendship Association, encouraged UK business leaders to take advantage of favorable policies of investing in China, especially in the fields of clean energy and green finance.
Zhang Jinlong, chairman of the UK Chinese Business Association, praised the achievements made in technology, finance and culture between the two countries, adding that business leaders of the two countries should join hands to face challenges and explore new collaboration opportunities.
Stephen Perry, president emeritus of Britain's 48 Group Club, underscored China's role in the global supply chain, saying that China International Supply Chain Expo serves as an important platform for the steady development of the global supply chain.
Xia Hua, chairperson of Eve Group, recalled previous exchanges between the company and the British communities, saying that the cooperation in the garment industry between the two countries has been deepened in recent years with a focus on the two cultures.
The summit also included forums on investment, women's leadership, and youth entrepreneurship, covering topics such as healthcare, fintech, and cultural innovation. The first committee of the Youth Chamber of Commerce of the UK Chinese Business Association was introduced, and new professional committees and liaison offices were established.
