BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Erenhot, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border, has seen its fruit and vegetable exports to Mongolia increase in both volume and value, according to the local customs.

About 714 km from the Mongolian capital Ulan Bator, the Erenhot Port in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region handles most of Mongolia's fruit and vegetable imports.

Since the port launched a "green channel" for agricultural products between the two countries in 2018, nearly 574,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables, worth more than 845 million yuan (about 116.62 U.S. dollars), have been exported from China to Mongolia by the end of March this year.

The exported fruits and vegetables include sweet peppers, cucumbers, broccoli, apples, pears, bananas, etc.

Feng Zhigang, manager of a company engaging in fruit, vegetable, and grain oil imports and exports in Erenhot, said that fruits and vegetables produced in China have been growing in popularity among Mongolian residents over the years due to their freshness and variety.

The port's green channel for exports has also facilitated the trade and saved the costs for companies.
