BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Four global shipping giants on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding in east China's Shanghai to extend the cooperation period of OCEAN Alliance to the year 2032, reported Shanghai Securities News.
Since 2017, the four shipping groups, namely CMA CGM Group, Evergreen Marine Corporation, China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited and Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd., have been providing high-quality services to their customers through the OCEAN Alliance tie-up, which offers benefits including short transit times, competitive voyage frequencies and comprehensive port network coverage.
Services of the alliance cover seven major trade routes between the east and west parts of the world, serving as links between Asia and regions such as Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Middle East and North America coasts.
Striving to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, the CMA CGM Group is committed to applying the best solutions to reduce the environmental impact of shipping and logistics operations. The company plans to operate more than 120 container ships powered by green alternative fuels by the year 2027. Some of these vessels have been deployed to the OCEAN Alliance network.
