BEIJING, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Initiative on the Belt and Road International Digital Economy Cooperation was launched Wednesday at the High-level Forum on Digital Economy of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

The digital economy is an increasingly important driver of global economic growth and plays a significant role in accelerating economic recovery, enhancing productivity of industries, cultivating new markets and industries, and achieving inclusive and sustainable growth.
To expand cooperation in digital economy, and unleash the huge potential of the digital economy in implementing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, on a voluntary and non-binding basis, China, Argentina, Cambodia, Comoros, Cuba, Ethiopia, Gambia, Kenya, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Palestine, Sao Tome and Principe and Thailand proposed the Beijing Initiative.
The Beijing Initiative, including 20 items, proposes to foster agricultural modernization, promote digital transformation of the industry, improve digitalization of public services, coordinate digital transformation and green transformation, and support digital innovation and entrepreneurship.
In terms of the digital transformation of the industry, the Initiative proposes to deepen the integrated development of digital technology and manufacturing, and develop digital, networked and intelligent manufacturing industry.
As for improving digitalization of public services, the Initiative proposes to promote digital government administration, enhance service capacity, and facilitate government services.
The Initiative also emphasizes the coordination of digital transformation and green transformation, proposing to advance coordinated and mutually reinforced digitalization and green development, and achieving synchronized green development with digitalization.
