BEIJING, April 11 (Xinhua) -- According to a latest report released by an online travel agency, China sees surge in bookings for both domestic and outbound tours during the upcoming five-day holiday of International Labor Day, reported Shanghai Securities News on Monday.
As of April 6, bookings for domestic tours in Labor Day holiday through the agency increased by more than seven times than last year, according to the report.
For many destinations, the booking volume has recovered to the pre-pandemic level in 2019, compared with which Dali is seeing an 190 percent increase, Wehai over 300 percent, and other popular cities such as Chengdu, Changsha, Qingdao, Suzhou, Fuzhou and Zhuhai over 30 percent.
The report suggests that recovery of outbound travel is also picking up speed during the upcoming holiday. By April 6, bookings for outbound tours increased by over 18 times compared with last year, with search volume for outbound flight tickets rising over 9 times than in 2022.
Top destinations for China's outbound tourists include Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, the United States, Indonesia, the Philippines, among others, according to the report.
The report also shows that, by April 6, bookings for outbound group tours in the holiday had increased 157 percent compared with that in early April.
