BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese delegation from Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, promoted business opportunities offered by its cultural industry on Tuesday in the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris, the French capital.
Attended by over 100 participants from French cultural institutions and enterprises, the event aims to promote the city's cultural industry, with a focus on its forthcoming China (Shenzhen) - France (Paris) 19th International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) and Shenzhen Design Week (SZDW). The event is also expected to deepen cooperation between the two cities and the two countries in cultural industry, such as fashion, design and cultural exhibition.
Zhang Ling, President of Shenzhen Association for International Cultural Exchanges, said at the promotion gathering that exchanges and communications in culture and arts have played a key role and enhanced friendship of people in the two countries since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1964.
She added that Shenzhen, as a pioneer in China's reform and opening up and a core area of the Great Bay Area (GBA), is among the powerhouses of cultural industry in China thanks to policy supports in the past four decades. The city was officially designated by UNESCO as China's first and the world's sixth City of Design 15 years ago and the ICIF is hailed as a leading exhibition in China's cultural industry.
Anne-Marie Sargueil, President of the French Academy of design, highlighting the importance of people-to-people exchanges in the culture and arts industry, expressed her hope of cooperation with Shenzhen.
Head of the Chinese Cultural Center in Paris She Mingyuan believed that communications through the cultural exchanges platforms, such as the ICIF and the SZDW, will improve mutual understanding between the two peoples and inject impetus to the overall cooperation in culture and tourism.
The SZDW, initiated in 2017, has become a global comprehensive platform for the development of innovative industry, the promotion of Shenzhen city, the incubation of design talents and experience for a modern and fashionable life.
The ICIF, an international comprehensive cultural industry exhibition recognized by the Union of international Fairs (UFI), has seen 18 successful conventions since 2004, when the first fair was held. The 19th fair will be held in June this year, focusing on digitalization of the cultural industry.
