MILAN, Sep 22 (Class Editori) — After opening sales offices in Taiwan and Hong Kong in the past 24 months, Dorelan, the Forlì-based company that is Italy's leading bedding manufacturer, is heading to South Korea. With local distributor The Home, it has created Dorelan Korea, a joint venture 60% controlled by B&T, owner of the Dorelan brand, which will enable the Romagna-based company to grow its local distribution network, currently 15 stores strong inside department stores. A new opening is planned by the end of the year.
Production, from the making of raw materials to the packaging of a wide range of next-generation premium products, will remain 100% concentrated in Italy, with Dorelan Korea responsible for developing the brand's distribution in the local market.
"South Korea is a big player in the global economy and promises further growth in a market with strong potential," Diano Tura and Pietro Paolo Bergamaschi, co-founders of the B&T Group, emphasized. Tura and Bergamaschi's choice is linked to the growth potential of the country, which is already the fourth-largest economy in Asia and the tenth-largest economy in the world, thanks to almost constant progress over the past 20 years and a strongly innovation-oriented economic system.
Economic growth implies, among other things, an increasing attention towards wellness and a consequent increase in demand for quality mattresses and bed systems, which Dorelan makes paying much attention to ergonomics, technicality and customization. This is also thanks to the support of an autonomous and independent research committee which carries out scientific studies and surveys on sleep.
Founded 54 years ago by Tura and Bergamaschi in a garage in the city of Forlì, Dorelan has grown year after year thanks to huge investments in R&D, environmental sustainability and care for its employees.
Attention to the craftmanship of the products perfectly combines with the attention for innovation: a successful mix which has allowed the company first to grow roots in Italy, then to grow even abroad. It closed 2021 with a turnover of 85 million euros, a 34% increase year-on-year. Dorelan Korea is starting with a turnover of 6 million euros.
