BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Monishan town, a scenic spot located in the Hui ethnic district of Hohhot city in North China, has been selected into the national list of preferred projects for demonstrating integrated development of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and tourism, reported local media on Wednesday.
The AAAA-class tourism attraction is the only one in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region that enters the list. It concentrates on building an urban district featuring integrated development of characteristic culture and tourism development.
Currently, Monishan town is crafting the local ICH teaching and learning base where people can get contact with dough sculpture, cloth art and paper-cutting craftsmen to experience the ICH techniques.
In its ICH art museum, there are traditional costumes, musical instruments and handicrafts of local ethnic minorities, ancient agricultural tools, textile tools, and daily necessities as well, revealing to people the local nomadic, grazing and farming history.
Apart from these, diversified traditional and modern cultures such as the longstanding Tumochuan culture, grassland nomadic culture, and the red culture of Daqingshan also add to the district's unique cultural attractiveness and contribute to fostering local tourism.
