MILAN, June 27 (Class Editori) — Mandarin Oriental will redevelop and manage the historic Cristallo Hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The Hong Kong-based Group, one of the leading international luxury hospitality chains, concluded an agreement with the British fund Attestor Capital in a bid to relaunch it ahead of the Milano Cortina Olympics.
The investment deal, estimated at 50 million euros, will see the hotel undergo an expansion and extensive renovation, with the aim of making it a benchmark for mountain tourism internationally. The building, which will reopen in the summer of 2025 as the Mandarin Oriental Resort, will be the first alpine property of the Hong Kong-based chain, which currently owns eleven locations in Europe including Italy, the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and the Czech Republic.
Along with the Cortina agreement, Mandarin Oriental's management announced new operations in the "Exclusive Homes" sector, involving the inclusion of Italian villas in the portfolio of luxury private residences owned by the Group.
The deal confirms not only the attractiveness of the 2026 Olympic Games and the opportunities related to the development of infrastructure in the area ahead of the Games, but also the growing interest of large international hospitality groups in Italy, which is considered one of the tourist destinations with the greatest potential for attraction in Europe, especially in terms of luxury tourism.
