BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Carrying 45 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers, the China-Europe freight train departed from Yingtan in east China's Jiangxi province on Sunday.
It marked the launch of a new international land port, covering an area of 13.4 square kilometer, with a total investment of 1.68 billion yuan (about 150.4 million U.S. dollars). The launch of the port could help reduce inventory, transportation time and costs.
Known for its copper production, Yingtan will make the most of the new international land port to build itself into China's largest copper center featuring integrated service of copper processing, foreign trade, bonded warehouse, trading of copper futures and spots and supply chain finance.
According to the local customs, an estimated annual import and export volume of goods, mainly the local copper raw materials, will reach over 40 billion yuan in 2022.
