MILAN, May 16 (Class Editori) — The first Mediterranean marine wind farm speaks Chinese. Beleolico, the wind farm that Renexia —a company owned by Toto Group operating in renewable energy— has built off Taranto's poly-sectoral wharf, has been inaugurated.
The plant, which consists of ten windmill blades with a total capacity of 30 MW, will ensure a production of over 58,000 MWh, equal to 60,000 people’s annual need.
The wind turbines, divided into four segments, are 80 meters high, and the rotors, supplied by Ming Yang Smart Energy Co., China's largest wind blade manufacturer, are 135 meters in diameter. The total investment for the construction of Beleolico amounts to 80 million euros.
The infrastructure was inaugurated a few weeks ago in the presence of Apulia’s President Michele Emiliano. "The completion of this work achieved a twofold objective: on the one hand, the satisfaction of having built the first marine wind farm in Italy and in the Mediterranean Sea; on the other hand, the awareness that our approach, based on sharing, can contribute to the creation of a new protocol that combines technology and attention to the environment,” the entrepreneur who built Beleolico, Riccardo Toto, General Manager of Renexia, commented.
From the presentation of the project in 2008 to today's inauguration, Beleolico wind farm in Taranto has had to overcome several appeals.
