Huawei-sponsored smart classroom inaugurated in Angola's capital

June 26, 2025

Abstract : The second Huawei-sponsored smart classroom was officially inaugurated on Tuesday in Luanda, Angola's capital, aimed at enhancing access to modern, inclusive and high-quality learning in the country.

LUANDA, June 25 (Xinhua) -- The second Huawei-sponsored smart classroom was officially inaugurated on Tuesday in Luanda, Angola's capital, aimed at enhancing access to modern, inclusive and high-quality learning in the country.

Equipped with Huawei's advanced IdeaHub system and other intelligent teaching tools, the classroom is part of a broader smart education pilot project supported and implemented by Huawei Angola.

The smart classroom system supports up to 250 interconnected classrooms and can serve up to 1,400 students through online platforms. Future upgrades will integrate AI-assisted teaching, digital content libraries, and multilingual resources in Portuguese and English.

First Lady of Angola Ana Dias Lourenco attended the inauguration ceremony. "Today, we are not inaugurating a classroom. We are inaugurating possibilities, inaugurating a path that reinforces my conviction that education is the strongest force for integrated and sustainable development," she said.

Minister of Education Luisa Alves Grilo said the classrooms will allow students to access national and international bibliographic collections and connect to other countries such as Brazil, South Africa, and Sao Tome and Principe.

Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Angola Hou Qiang said the project reflects Huawei's long-term commitment to bridging the digital divide and promoting equitable educational opportunities in Angola.

As a leading Chinese technology company with a long-standing presence in Angola, Huawei continues to support local development through digital transformation and educational initiatives under the spirit of China-Angola friendship and win-win cooperation.
