BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhua) – North China's Hebei Province recorded a total of 27.48 billion yuan of imports and exports with the Belt and Road (B&R) countries in the first two months of the year, up 22.3 percent year on year, the latest data from Shijiazhuang Customs District shows.
Of the total, Hebei's export volume with the B&R countries amounted to 18.05 billion yuan, a year on year increase of 13.4 percent, while the import volume surged 44 percent year on year to 9.43 billion yuan, according to the Shijiazhuang Customs.
During the period, 16 countries and regions in West Asia and North Africa maintained the largest trading partners of Hebei, with foreign trade volume surged by 52.5 percent year on year to 9.58 billion yuan, while the imports and exports with 11 Southeast Asian countries reached 8.32 billion yuan, up 14.4 percent year on year.
Mechanical and electrical products are the main products exported from Hebei Province to the B&R countries in the period, with an export volume of 6.86 billion yuan, an increase of 44.6 percent year on year, while export products including high-tech products and textiles were recorded with the highest growth rate, soared by 63.9 percent year on year to 1.64 billion yuan.
In addition, Hebei Province has further optimized the mix of commodities imported from these countries, with natural gas, agricultural products and textile raw materials increasing by 1.5 times, 97.1 percent and 4.1 times respectively compared with the same period last year.
