March 18, 2022

Abstract : Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) announced that FTI will propose to further open the country to the outside world at the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) meeting.

InfoQuest (March 18, 2022) - Mr. Suphan Mongkolsuthe, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) announced that FTI will propose to further open the country to the outside world at the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) meeting, to promote economic development and mitigate the impact of the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Thailand's economy.

Given that the omicron strain has not caused severe disease and the government has adjusted its strategy to shift the state of the pandemic to endemic approach, the number of inbound foreign tourists is expected to increase gradually in the second half of this year, and the whole year is expected to see 5.58 million to 6 million foreign tourists. The number of domestic tourists is expected to reach 126.4 million. Tourism revenue generated by domestic and international tourists totaled more than 1 trillion baht.

Mr. Suphan pointed out that the top priority is to build confidence for international tourists and show that Thailand is ready to open its door, for a rapid economic recovery.

Further opening Thailand will help promote international travel, benefiting the service sector, tourism and related industries, and supporting the development of over 3 million small and medium-sized enterprises.
