BEIJING, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- As of Feb. 13, the number of China-Europe freight trains traveling via Horgos port and Alashankou port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region this year reached record high of 845 and 731, up 15.91 percent and 7.98 percent year on year respectively.
Starting from this year, Xinjiang railway department has paid close attention to the operation links such as train distribution, reloading, pickup and delivery. The number of China-Europe freight trains has shown a steady upward trend since January.
The Horgos station implemented 24-hour alternate working to ensure uninterrupted dispatch of trains. "With precise dispatching and optimized operation procedures, the average daily number of trains through Horgos has reached 19," said Chen Kaiqiang, an assistant engineer in Horgos Station.
Statistics showed that, there are 44 China-Europe freight train routes passing through Horgos and Alashankou ports, which can reach 13 countries and regions and carry more than 200 types of goods.
