Considering the factors affecting port container throughput and location, the index selects 17 Northeast Asia international shipping hub ports in China, Japan, the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Russia as research samples, and comprehensively evaluates international shipping from six primary indicators and 15 secondary indicators, respectively.
Based on the final evaluation results, the sample ports are divided into four tiers. For example, the Tire I comprise ports such as Qingdao and Pusan are indisputably the international shipping hubs in Northeast Asia with leading network connectively, operation performance and infrastructure scale.
With the respect to the infrastructure scale, Qingdao Port in east China's Shandong Province enjoys the most important advantage of infrastructure supporting capacity, while in terms of hub operation level, the port has the highest comprehensive operation level, followed by Pusan, Tianjin, Rizhao and Kwangyang.
As the pioneer of China's economic information service, the CEIS has been committed to expanding the formation of a series of international shipping indexes since it release the first "Xinhua Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index" in the shipping area in 2014, providing important reference standard for global shipping connectivity development.
