MILAN, Sept. 22 (Class Editori) -- Italy will be the main character of Suzhou Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Expo 2021. Made in Italy will take part in the event with an Italian Pavilion organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Shanghai, the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and the Italian Government Tourist Board ENIT with 16 Italian companies. Among the others, culture, tourism, sports, agrifood and design sectors will be represented together with an area dedicated to Italian industry in Suzhou.
The Consul General of Italy in Shanghai, Michele Cecchi, intervened during the opening ceremony and highlighted the importance of the expo as "an occasion to strengthen relations between Italy and China as concerns economy, culture and tourism, sectors which our national pavilion focuses on, especially in terms of creativity and Italian productive excellences".
This will be the third edition of the Grand Canal Cultural Tourism Expo, held in the province of Jiangsu. Past editions hosted about 100,000 visitors. This is an important opportunity to promote the image of Italy as a tourist destination and a recognized benchmark for quality production.
The event is an important step towards 2022 Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism. Among the exhibitors, ample space has been dedicated to soccer with the representations of Roma and Inter Milan clubs. In addition to these two teams, both owned by Suning, Venezia Football Club will be present as well. There will also be space for Yishe Fine Wine, NABA, academy of fine arts, and Carimali Catering.
According to a survey jointly conducted by Ivy United Travel Consulting Agency, China Kanghui Tourism Group and Asia Pacific Tourism Association, in 2020, 49.99% of Chinese tourists gathered information about future tourist destinations on WeChat, while 17.2% on Youku, a Chinese video hosting service owned by Tencent, and on iQIYI, Baidu's movie and video streaming website with many premium contents. Finally, 14.14% relied on the microblogging platform Weibo.
