
Photo shows the Chinese version of Big Earth Data in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals: China (2020) has been published.
BEIJING, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Big Earth Data in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals: China (2020) and Big Earth Data in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals: The Belt and Road (2020) have been officially published by China Science Publishing & Media Ltd. recently.
A total of 86 case studies, indicator construction and sustainable development assessments have been conducted around the six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as zero hunger (SDG 2), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11) and climate action (SDG 13) to show the results of research, monitoring and evaluation of SDGs in typical regions and nations, according to the reports.
These cases show how China is leveraging technological innovation such as big earth data to promote the implementation of SDG.
The reports have been prefaced by Bai Chunli, former president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), edited by Guo Huadong, director of International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals and co-authored by the big earth data science and engineering pilot project team as a tribute to the upcoming International Forum on Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals in early September.
As an official document endorsed by Chinese authorities, the previous reports such as Big Earth Data in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals (2019) were issued by Chinese state leaders at the 74th and 75th Sessions of the UN General Assembly in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
