BEIRUT, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Students from Lebanese universities recently took part in the 20th Chinese Bridge competition on Chinese proficiency via video links, a statement by the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon said Thursday.
The Chinese Bridge competition, organized by the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon and the Confucius Institute at Saint Joseph University, tests the Chinese proficiency of college and upper secondary school students.
During the competition, contestants delivered speeches about the importance of building a community with a shared future for mankind, a concept initiated by China to maintain peace and development in the world and respond to global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Other topics included the centenary of the Communist Party of China and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Lebanon.
Besides speeches, students were required to showcase talents using the Chinese language and arts. The student Ryan Yassin from the Lebanese University won first place. Enditem
