BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- China's satellite industry is embracing more policy and financial support at local levels, reported Economic Information Daily Tuesday.
For instance, Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province on June 7 issued 16 measures to build itself into a global innovation highland of satellite and application industry.
Central China's Hubei province has proposed to improve its space industry development plan, focus on the construction of related key projects, and build the Wuhan National Aerospace Industry Base into an important carrier of the national space strategy and an important growth point of Hubei's economic development at a faster speed.
Chinese capital city Beijing has clarified to build a commercial space industry base and guide social forces to support the innovation and development of the satellite network industry in a recently-released document.
Fiscal, financial and social capital will be further assembled in the satellite industry to further strengthen independent innovation capabilities, accelerate the implementation of high-end projects, and encourage the application of satellites in various industries.
Shenzhen has put forward to deploy a number of major equipment and key component development projects on communication, navigation, integrated application of remote sensing satellites, and satellite development, with a subsidy of no more than 40 percent of the total investment for each project, which can be up to 300 million yuan.
Hubei will fully utilize fiscal and financial measures and industry funds to promote the settlement of more high-end carriers, projects, and talents, so as to accelerate the development of the aerospace industry and build a whole aerospace industry chain cluster of 100 billion yuan.
Beijing will implement commercial aerospace launch premium subsidies to guide enterprises to reduce innovation risks by using market means.
It will also implement government fund income transfer. When satellite network sub-fund established by municipal guide fund is liquidated, 10 to 20 percent of the excess income of government investment will be rewarded to the fund management team, in a bid to encourage social capital to invest in Beijing's satellite network industry.
The long satellite internet industry chain has the potential to drive the development of intelligent manufacturing, communications and other industries, enhance the endogenous power of development, and promote the construction of a new development pattern, said Bian Yongzu, a researcherfrom the Center for International Security and Strategy, Tsinghua University.
The current intensive policy support in many places will help accelerate the integration of the satellite industry with new-generation information technology and high-end intelligent manufacturing, promoting the rapid growth of related markets, Bian added.
