Thailand and neighboring countries saw plenty of cassava hit the market from December 2020 to April 2021, leading major cassava import places on the Thai border to arrange mobile quality inspection equipment.
Meanwhile, multiple provinces have also introduced such equipment in their export warehouses to facilitate up-to-standard cassava exports.
"We would conduct sampling inspection of the goods to obtain the most accurate data," said Director Keerati.
Jurin Laksanawisit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, ordered the Department to improve the quality of exported cassava to outperform its competitors. The stable cassava root pricealso enhanced the confidence of cassava growers and reduced their budget pressure.
The resurgence of the pandemic in April 2021 hindered the quality inspection, but it would notcause price fluctuations of fresh cassava roots.
In the first four months, Thailand exported about 3.96 million tons of cassava, with an export value of 1.424 billion US dollars, up 50 percent and 49 percent respectively from last year.
