In addition to the NDRC, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) are also vigorously supporting the development of the AI industry.
Since the State Council, China's cabinet, issued a plan for new generation AI in 2017, the MOST has coordinated resources of various departments and regions to accelerate the implementation of AI technology research and key technology R&D, and carry out a number of new generation AI projects, focusing on the basic theories, key technologies, basic software and hardware.
The MIIT has focused mainly on promoting the deep integration of the AI and the real economy. It has set up the national manufacturing innovation centers such as smart sensors and intelligent connected cars.
In recent years, the AI industry in China has developed rapidly, with the new applications countinuing to emerge. The AI has played an important role in fighting against the COVID-19 epidemic, promoting the resumption of work and production, and improving the people's livelihoods and well-being.
