PHNOM PENH, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- China donated mine-clearance equipment and devices as well as vehicles to the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) on Tuesday.

Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian handed over the donation to CMAA's first Vice President Ly Thuch at a ceremony held in Phnom Penh.

The donation included landmine detectors, demining personal protective equipment outfits, protective helmets, boots, and pick-up trucks, among others.

Wang expressed his belief that China's humanitarian assistance would help reduce landmine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) casualties in Cambodia.

"China will continue to assist Cambodia to achieve the target of eliminating all types of mines and ERWs by 2025," he said.

Cambodia is one of the most landmine-affected countries in the world.

Ly Thuch extended his profound gratitude to China for providing mine-clearance assistance, saying that the aid was essential to save lives of people living under the threat of landmines and ERWs. Enditem
