MILAN, Jan.11 (Class Editori) -- ENAV's international expansion continues in the non-regulated market. Through the subsidiary IDS AirNav, the air traffic control company was awarded with a contract of 1.95 million euros in Colombia to provide software systems, operating startup and maintenance of the aeronautical information service (AIS) to the Colombian service provider (UAEAC-Unidad Administrativa Especial de Aeronáutica Civil). The contract, lasting 20 months, is part of the evolution framework of the AIM (Aeronautical Information Management) system and provides for the transition from the traditional AIS (Aeronautical Information Service) through the update of the systems currently in use thanks to innovative IDS AirNav technologies.
In particular, this new technology will allow the Colombian service provider to have a state-of-the-art digital platform, able to manage the amount of data necessary to guarantee safety and punctuality to all flights. According to ENAV's note, thanks to the new system it will be possible for UAEAC to effectively manage and publish all the statics and dynamic data that are essential for air traffic control. Moreover, these data are necessary to give useful information for navigation to the aeronautical community and to communicate aircrafts' flight plans, weather data, the several bulletins issued and all the flow of airport data and air navigation obstacles.
The new contract consolidates the position of the ENAV Group, led by Paolo Simioni, in South America, with its systems already operational in Brazil, Venezuela, Chile and Argentina. Furthermore, with this contract, the IDS AirNav's contribution to the company revenues reaches 16 billion. Analyzing the nine-month revenues of the subsidiary, specialized in aeronautical information management services, earnings amounted at 9.3 million out of 16.4 million deriving from non-regulated business revenues. To this figure, in addition to the last agreement with Colombia, a 2.2 million worth contract signed last October with the Rwanda Airports Company (RAC), the service provider for traffic air control in Rwanda, must be added.
