MILAN, Dec 2 (Class Editori) – "Since this year you have not been able to go to Italy, we have decided to bring Italy to you in Guangdong", as the Consul General Lucia Pasqualini has stated in Canton, during the inauguration ceremony of the Italian Food Festival, which has characterised the fifthth edition of the Italian Cuisine Week in the world.
The second edition of the Italian Food Festival has been held during the weekend of November 28-29 at Florentia Village in Foshan, an Italian luxury outlet in the heart of Southern China, with the presence of the Ambassador Luca Ferrari, for the first time on an official visit to the South of China.
Thousands of visitors and guests have come to the Florentia Village, where they had the opportunity to live a typical Italian experience in the weekend. The gastronomic event, organised by the Italian Consulate General in Guangzhou, in collaboration with restaurants and Italian companies, has promoted not only the art of Italian good food but also the best of Made in Italy in a perfect Italian style.
During the two days, there has been contests for Chinese pizza makers, competitions between the Italian handmade pasta and the Cantonese one, activities for children and a lot of music in order to recreate the atmosphere of a big Italian party. Together with the Italian community, the Consulate has brought the best of Italy to all the Chinese people in Foshan, who have not been able to travel to Italy this year.
In addition, on the occasion of the Italian Food Festival, Italian wines and kiwis coming from Italy have been promoted. The latter is a product much loved by the Chinese, and there is a procedure to import it to China; however, it is still little popular in this country. Italy is the second producer of kiwis worldwide, whereas Chinese people are huge consumers of this product. The kiwis, offered by the Agricultural Cooperative Naturitalia, have run off in few hours.
In the South of China, Italian products are going very well and Chinese people love them because they are healthy and biological. Homemade panettone, coffee and many other delicacies, which are much loved by Chinese consumers, have flown off the shelves.
