BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Young people in China have shown increased interest in consuming health-related goods and services, according to AliHealth, the healthcare flagship of Alibaba Group.
The number of active users born after 1995 (post-95s generation) of AliHealth's online marketplace surged 102 percent year on year during China's Singles' Day online shopping festival, the biggest discount period of the year, according to data released by AliHealth on Thursday.
During the online shopping spree, the sales of Goji berry juice, spina date seed cream, black sesame pill, collagen jelly, which were ready-to-eat nourishing foods tailor-made for young people by AliHealth and its partners, soared 401 percent, 178 percent, 215 percent and 114 percent year on year respectively.
The most popular health products among the post-95s generation were physical examination packages, medical masks, HPV vaccine, instant cubilose, protective masks and hair growth products.
Data also showed that during the shopping festival, people living in small cities are more willing to invest in health than those in first tier cities. For example, the per capital health-related consumption of residents in Xuancheng city, east China's Anhui province, rose 136 percent year on year, far higher than that in first tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
