DHAKA, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Huawei is set to launch four ICT programs in partnership with the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) with the vision to accelerate the growth of the ICT industry and facilitate ICT talents in the country.
In this connection Thursday in capital Dhaka, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among the stakeholders concerned.
The purpose of the MoU is to initiate four programs namely "Bangladesh ICT Competition 2020", "ICT Joint Innovation Center", "Huawei ICT Academy", and "Curating Bangladeshi Startups", Huawei said in a statement.
Among the programs, it said, BCC will be working together with Huawei on Bangladesh ICT Competition 2020, ICT Joint Innovation Center, and Curating Bangladeshi Startups.
Huawei ICT Academy will be conducted by BHTPA and Huawei, said the Chinese telecommunications giant.
All the responsible parties will be managing these programs for at least three years from the days of its inauguration, it added.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Bangladeshi minister of state for ICT Division, was the chief guest in the MoU signing event and commented, "All of our initiatives and projects are focusing on youth, ICT and employment."
He expressed the hope that this agreement will be able to provide proper trainings to Bangladesh students, researchers and innovators in the university level.
"We are really grateful to Huawei Technologies for their contribution for building Digital Bangladesh," he said.
Zhang Zhengjun, chief executive officer of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, among others spoke at the event and said, "Our programs will motivate the youth of Bangladesh to excel in the ICT field, which will ultimately help Bangladesh fulfill the vision of Digital Bangladesh."
