XIAMEN, July 30 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese company shipped 449 school buses with smart features from a port in east China's Xiamen City to Saudi Arabia Wednesday afternoon.
The buses were manufactured by Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co., Ltd., one of the country's leading bus makers.
According to Chen Zhixiang, a sales manager of the company, the vehicles are supposed to be put into use when schools in Saudi Arabia resume classes in September.
Chen said the buses have been tailor-made for the Saudi Arabian market in accordance with local geographical environment, climate, driving habits and students' need.
Besides some basic functions like clock-in and security monitoring systems, the buses have also been equipped with other "smart" safety features, including forward collision warning system, lane departure warning system and monitoring system for the driver.
Chen added that the delivery of the buses was finalized through video conferences as the COVID-19 epidemic made it impossible for the customers to check the vehicles on spot.
The company has exported over 1,300 vehicles to Saudi Arabia this year. Enditem
