BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhua) -- A new cross-border road route linking southwest China's Chongqing Municipality and the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan was opened recently, reported Chongqing Daily Thursday.
The truck loaded with cargoes of motorcycles and accessories, which is expected to arrive in Uzbekistan in 13 days, passing through Horgos in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with a total traveling distance of 5,700 kilometers.
The new cross-border route marks the seventh line following the launching of Chongqing transnational highway trucks to countries of Cambodia, Singapore, and Thailand, realizing the connection of land transport channels between Chongqing and Central Asia.
As a relevant carrier of the new land and sea corridor in the western region, Chongqing cross-border highway truck services have made 3,156 trips by the end of June this year, with a total cargo value amounting to 1.99 billion yuan.
Meanwhile, Yongchuan Port, Chongqing's major port, also launched direct shipping services for foreign trade on the same day, and its first exports were direct to the Asian country after transit in Shanghai.
Yongchuan Port expects to build four 3,000-tonne multi-purpose docking berths and one particular roll-on roll-off berth for commercial vehicles.
