MILAN, July 8 (Class Editori) - Realme challenges Xiaomi in the 5G smartphones market in Italy. The company from Shenzhen specialized in smartphones and Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) has presented today the new Realme X50 Pro 5G and the Realme 6 Pro.
The Chinese producer landed in Italy last December. Realme has been introduced as spin-off of Oppo. The European launch took place on October 15, with the presentation of its popular model X2 Pro in Madrid and the willingness of competing with the medium-high end smartphones of brands as Huawei and Samsung.
According to the report Counterpoint Research on Smartphone Shipment Market Share concerning the first quarter of 2020, Realme has ranked seventh as for the market share of smartphones shipping. Moreover, the report has confirmed a strong fall in the sector, which decreased by 13% on an annual basis in the first quarter of 2020. Realme has been one of the few companies which has continued to grow in this period, by recording +157 y-o-y.
In 2019, global shipping reached 25 million smartphones, with an annual growth rate by 808%. Over three days from the launch on the Asian market, Realme has recorded more than 1 million sales in India, instead, by ranking as one of the four most sold brands of the Federation and among the first five in Indonesia. According to November 2019 statistics, Realme became the fifth smartphone brand in Spain too. Currently, the company is active in 27 markets worldwide.
Realme innovations have been launched in a positive period for the Chinese devices in Italy. The first three months of 2020 have been characterized by sales at a three- or even four- digit growth. If actually Huawei falls by 27%, the record is to be attributed to Xiaomi and Oppo.
The first ones, according to Canalys esteems - a company specialised in the study of the phone market-have recorded a growth by 306%. Figures in line with the openings of 2019: as Francesco Zhou- the ambassador of Xiaomi in Italy- has underlined in a post on Linkedin, the stores reopening have tripled. The Peking group led by Lei Jun is slowly approaching Huawei in the European consumers' preferences. Oppo recorded an upswing by 1,502% even with still narrow market shares.
