BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- Provincial government of Anhui in east China on Monday signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Alibaba, China's e-commerce giant, to strengthen digitalization.
The digital economy has become a broad social consensus today. Anhui has a complete industry layout from agriculture to science and technology, and there are a lot of opportunities for digitalization and intelligence, according to Zhang Yong, executive chairman and CEO of Alibaba, at the signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, Anhui and Alibaba will carry out cooperation to promote development of emerging industries, facilitate the digital economy, and expand the consumption capacity.
Meanwhile, six cities under Anhui province including Hefei, Wuhu, Chuzhou, Bengbu, Suzhou and Huangshan also signed cooperation agreements with Alibaba on the same day in efforts to give full play to their respective advantages and characteristics and promote digital development in depth.
To be specific, a cloud computing and blockchain innovation center will settle in Hefei, capital city of Anhui province. Wuhu will rely on port advantages to serve advanced manufacturing and high-quality development of the digital economy.
In recent years, Anhui has fully integrated itself into the Yangtze River Delta regional integration development through the implementation of innovation-driven development strategy, and gradually transformed from a traditional agricultural province to a new industrial province.
