Abstract : For several weeks, Campari has already started testing to bring Aperol to China. "They will continue until the end of the first quarter of next year," explained the group CEO Bob Kunze-Concewitz speaking to Reuters. The test, he added, started in five of China's major cities.

MILAN, June 10 (Class Editori) -- For several weeks, Campari has already started testing to bring Aperol to China. "They will continue until the end of the first quarter of next year," explained the group CEO Bob Kunze-Concewitz speaking to Reuters. The test, he added, started in five of China's major cities.

At the end of 2019, Campari recorded revenues of over 1.8 billion while net profit rose to 308 million. It is the sixth group in the world in the brand spirit industry. The first operation by Luca Garavoglia dates back to 1994 with the acquisition of the Italian activities of the Dutch BolsWessanen, owner of brands such as Crodino, Cynar, Lemonsoda, Oransoda, Biancosarti and the Crodo waters.

Five years later, it was the turn of Cinzano and Ouzo 12, a Greek alcoholic drink based on anise. In 2001, it was Skyy Spirits, owner of the Skyy Vodka brand, which has now become one of the main premium vodka brands. Then, the Zedda Piras myrtle and the Asti spumante brand.

In 2003, Campari acquired Aperol from the Irish of Cantrell & Cochrane. Therefore, it is from its flagship product that the company intends to relaunch post-Covid consumption.

These days, however, is the latest operation, the acquisition of 49% of Tannico, the e-commerce platform for the online sale of wines and spirits.

Founded in 2013, the company has had over 7 million unique visitors in the past 12 months, with a selection based on 14,000 wines from over 2,500 Italian and foreign wineries. In addition to the wines, the offer includes high-end spirits.

Tannico has progressively extended its activities to the business-to-business channel. In 2019, it achieved net sales of 20.6 million with an average compound annual increase in net sales in the last three years (2016-2019) of about 50%.

This trend grew significantly in the first quarter of 2020, also at due to the COVID-19 emergency, reaching a substantial management break even. Since 2017, Tannico has expanded its presence to over 20 markets, including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and France. (All rights reserved)
