BEIJING, June 9 (Xinhua) -- A total of 106 service projects started construction on Monday in southwest China's Sichuan Province, with an investment amounting to 171.422 billion yuan.
Eight of the projects are each with an investment of over 5 billion yuan, while two of them are each with an investment of over 10 billion yuan, introduced Cai Yujie, head of the project management arm with the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Economic Cooperation.
According to Cai, Sichuan has been focusing on attracting investment in culture, sports and tourism, trade and business, modern logistics, and financial services, while it has turned eyes to scientific and technological information, medical care and health among others since the COVID-19 outbreak.
It's learned that these projects involves 20 cities (prefectures) in the province, with 50-odd billion yuan of the investment going to Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan.
The China Merchants Group western headquarters and urban comprehensive development and operation project is one of the representative projects.
With a total investment of 30 billion yuan, the project aims at integrating industrial resources in western China and building the company's western headquarters in the central business district of Chengdu.
According to the Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Economic Cooperation, over 1,000 service projects have been contracted in major platform activities in Sichuan since 2018, with a total investment exceeding 1.6 trillion yuan. (Edited by Gu Shanshan with Xinhua Silk Road, gushanshan.1987@163.com)
